Car Insurance

Comprehensive motor cover suited to your vehicle and driving habits. We compare policies to find the right level of protection at a competitive premium.

Levels of cover

Choosing the right level of cover

Third party only

The minimum level of cover required by UK law. Covers liability for injury to other people and damage to their property. Does not cover damage to your own vehicle or theft.

Third party, fire & theft

Includes third party liability cover, plus protection if your vehicle is stolen or damaged by fire. Your own vehicle is not covered for accident damage beyond these events.

Comprehensive

The broadest level of cover. Includes third party, fire and theft, plus damage to your own vehicle from an accident, regardless of fault. May also include windscreen cover and courtesy car provision.

Pricing factors

What affects your premium?

Vehicle type

Insurance groups range from 1 to 50. Group is determined by factors including the vehicle's value, engine size, repair costs, and safety features. Higher group vehicles typically carry higher premiums.

Annual mileage

The more miles you cover each year, the greater the statistical likelihood of a claim. Accurately stating your annual mileage is important — underestimating can affect a claim.

No-claims history

A no-claims discount (NCD) rewards drivers who have not made a claim. Accumulated over several years, it can significantly reduce your premium. Some policies allow you to protect your NCD for an additional cost.

Driver profile

Age, driving experience, occupation, and address all influence your premium. Young or newly qualified drivers are typically charged more due to higher statistical risk. Additional named drivers can also affect pricing.
